Frances Irene Sholl Ginter, 85, of Bellefonte, died at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Monday, May 20, 2013. She was born April 18, 1928, a daughter of the late John Ira Sholl and late Ophelia Haupt Sholl. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1946 and Lock Haven State Teachers College in 1950. She organized her 50th college reunion. As a youngster she delivered the Harrisburg Patriot newspaper and was a member of a Bellefonte marching band. She used her father's Pennsylvania Railroad pass to shop in Philadelphia at Christmas, then and later in life, she traveled to most of the 48 states. She was a lifetime member of the Milesburg Methodist Church. She taught fifth grade in the Milesburg School until 1953. On a field trip to Harmony Forge in the early 1950's, she had her students watch the coronation of the Queen on television. In the 1950's, she also appeared on television when she won "Queen for a Day." In 1971, she returned to teaching as a substitute in Bellefonte, Penns Valley and mostly the Bald Eagle Area school districts, retiring in 1994. In April of 1950, she wed William Charles Ginter. He passed away, Sept. 12, 1987. Her sister, Phyllis Popenuk died in October 2012. She is survived by a son, Robert Clark Ginter, of Bellefonte; daughter Ellen Joyce Ginter Solt and son-in-law, Rodney Solt Sr., of Unionville; and grandson, Rodney Solt Jr., of Spring Mills. Her dogs, Penny and Charles, preceded her in death. She loved going to Camp Podunk, in Clinton County, built by her father in the 1930's. She also enjoyed gardening and she knit an afghan for each family member and others. There will be no viewing and no funeral home services. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Union Cemetery, Bellefonte.
